Critical to the success of our wonderful Sage education programs, and helping you to achieve your career dreams, are the Sage Career Agents! Career Agents guide the students through their training and help each student with their personal career goals.
When they are not hands on with the students, Career Agents are out and about around Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, developing and maintaining industry partnerships. These partnerships give Sage students access to great places to undertake their practical placements and update our Career websites with the latest jobs. In addition to this, your Career Agent also organises career and recruitment events so that the students can meet and greet relevant industry partners.
Phew, that sure makes your Career Agent a busy individual! But such an important one for you to get to know…
Let’s start with a finding out a little bit about Alex Smith, Career Agent, Sage Institute of Fitness. Alex responded to the questions below.
Tell us about your background
I have been a personal trainer for 7 years working in larger gyms as well as smaller 24 hour clubs. I have been a personal training manager as well as a club manager. I also owned my own successful personal training business for 5 years, whilst mentoring fitness students.
What made you become a Career Agent?
I had a big interest in mentoring students and helping them find the right job opportunity. Here at Sage I can help find our students the right opportunities to launch their fitness careers.
Do you have any tips about the industry?
If you have a real passion for fitness and you set your mind to it, no matter how hard it starts, keep pushing and it will all pay off.
What are your hobbies?
I love to travel and play sports
What is your favourite food?
I love Acai bowls
If you were given a chance to travel into the past, where would you go and why?
I would travel back to when I was travelling around South America.
