Critical to the success of our wonderful Sage education programs, and helping you to achieve your career dreams, are the Sage Career Agents! Career Agents guide the students through their training and help each student with their personal career goals.
When they are not hands on with the students, Career Agents are out and about around Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, developing and maintaining industry partnerships. These partnerships give Sage students access to great places to undertake their practical placements and update our Career websites with the latest jobs. In addition to this, your Career Agent also organises career and recruitment events so that the students can meet and greet relevant industry partners.
Phew, that sure makes your Career Agent a busy individual! But such an important one for you to get to know…
Let’s start with a finding out a little bit about Trent Dennis-Lane, Career Agent, Sage Institute of Fitness. Trent responded to the questions below.
Tell us about your background
I’m 27 years old, originally from Perth and I am half Burmese. I played AFL for 5 years – 3 years at Sydney and 2 years at St Kilda. I still play in the VFL for Sandringham.
What made you become a Career Agent?
After footy I needed to get a job, and the skills I learnt whilst in the football world made this job appeal to me. Combined with my love for the fitness industry – I really wanted to do this.
Do you have any tips about the industry?
The fitness industry is forever evolving. Stay up-to-date with fitness trends and training programs, but don’t lose track of what has worked for thousands of years – hard work and dedication.
What are your hobbies?
Footy, footy, footy. I also love cricket and basketball, but with work and football I don’t have time for much else.
What is your favourite food?
I absolutely love teriyaki chicken and rice – but all Asian cuisine is pretty good.
If you were given a chance to travel into the past, where would you go and why?
If I knew what I know now, I would go back to when Apple shares were at rock bottom and pour my life savings into it – easy money!
